The following are all persistent activities that will be available for the majority (if not the duration) of the event. (Please visit our outline for a list of all event happenings.)
Table-Top, Collectible Card, and Board Gaming (Hosted by Troll Country Games)
Troll Country Games will be hosting a day of gaming. There will be $10 Magic the Gathering Draft tournaments all day long, as well as board games, and tutorials for Warhammer 40k and Warmachine.
Movie Viewing Rooms
We’ll be dedicating two whole rooms to a steady flow of game-related content, one for movies, and one for more episodic/serial content. You can expect to see Scott Pilgrim, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, The King of Kong, Pure Pwnage, Hey Ash Whatcha Playing, The Tester, and goodness knows what else. Just as soon as we’ve locked down a schedule, you can be sure it’ll be posted. One way or another, there will always be something playing at GO!CON.
Retro Console Gaming
For most of the weekend, we’ll dedicate several televisions and consoles from our library for the casual enjoyment of anybody who might care to sit down and play. This currently includes selections from the NES, SNES, N64, and Dreamcast, but we’re far from done addition to that selection.
Fighter Friendlies
As most regular tournament enthusiasts know, friendlies are an important component of any event. We intend to be sure that several monitors and consoles will be available for friendly play for the majority of the weekend, especially during the tourneys.
Freeplay Arcade Cabinets
For the moment, the only confirmed working cabinet is our standing Neo Geo (with four games), which will be activated and on free play for the entirety of the weekend. Cross your fingers that we can get another one up and running in time.
Rock Band
How could we not?
As in past years, Rock Band will be a fundamental and consistent presence at our anniversary. However, rather than being on the patio, Rock Band will be featured on the main stage in our auxiliary space for the majority of Saturday, keeping people entertained and occupied (hopefully not annoyed) while hanging out during tournaments and not engaged in friendlies. It won’t be giving up its spot until the raffle, followed shortly by the evening’s musical performances.
Artists’ Row
Local artists will be showcasing and selling their works for the diurnal hours of the event. All event attendees will be given one five dollar credit (to be found in their SWAG bag) towards any potential purchase they might make from an artist. Most artists will likely be showcasing game-related pieces, but we certainly don’t care to limit those who would choose to attend.
(Chances are, the artists’ row will soon have its own page.)
