Everybody’s A Winner!

Unless you don’t participate.

THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE SO DON’T NOT PARTICIPATE!

The contests are all pretty much fully-formed at this point, so here’s a gentle (THOUGH FIRM) reminder that, you know.. we have some. We’re actually pretty jazzed by some of the prizes we’ve gotten (thanks largely to The Wizard’s Chest, ThinkGeek, and Damon and Taylor’s own pocket money) and are hoping that enough people get in on these contests to really make them the super fun events we like to see.

(Seriously, make our dreams of fifty people playing Hungry Hungry Hippos and Crossfire come true.)

All that being said, we’d like to remind you that two of our contests require considerable attention and preparation prior to the event proper: the costume contest and the Minecraft Wonders contest.

Anybody planning on entering the former probably knows what goes into it already. Anybody wanting to get in on the latter just needs to log onto our Minecraft server (x.gameondenver.com), build something awesome, and then notify us that it exists prior to one week from today (Nov. 16th).

Also, take note of Taylor’s trivia event, which is going to be dishing out some pretty cool prizes to the twelve people in the top three placing teams!

For full details on all of this malarkey, just visit the contests page.

At this point, all that’s really left for us to report is the contents of the raffle and post a full schedule (including movie rooms). We’ll be seeing you again shortly!

Love always,
Game On!

Tabletop Quickshot

Just a brief post to announce that Troll Country Games has sent word they will be running $10 Magic The Gathering draft tournaments all day on Saturday, as well as offering board-gaming, and tutorials on Warhammer 40K and Warmachine.

We’ll post more details and logistics as Troll Country provides them.

They Helped Us and We Love Them!

Seriously yo, our contributors have not gotten NEARLY enough love, so please offer them sexy makeouts, fresh batches of cookies, hand-knitted quilts and kitten-mittens..

Their page has finally gotten filled out proper – the way it deserves – and is now chockabock with words that say stuff like what they do and how they’re helping us out with this event and probably other words that don’t even make sense (which is our fault, not theirs).

So please, take a look at the contributors page and spend a few minutes giving some awareness to those kind, kind folks what felt gracious enough to make this event as insanely awesome as it’s going to be.

One additional note, the League of Legends tournament registration link can now be found under its details on the tournament page. It is now open.

Love always,
Game On!

League of Legends Specifics

Alright folks, so here’s how things are going to work for League.

Due to the number of PCs in the LAN, time constraints, and the availability of the LAN for other uses during the event, we’ll be capping our 5v5 League of Legends Tournament at eight teams running single-elimination. We would very much like to at least do double-elimination (still a slim possibility) and include more teams, but simply can’t negotiate it logistically this time around.

(For those of you who would like to see this happen, we are strongly considering the possibility of BYOC LoL tournaments in the future. To be continued..)

As far as how these eight teams register, well it’s quite simple. This Friday at 2:00 p.m., we will be opening an online registration form for the League of Legends tournament, which will be found on the tournament page. You MUST have a complete 5-person team organized at time of registration (though only one person need do the deed) and submit the summoner name for each member of the team.

The first eight complete teams to sign up will be the eight teams to get in.

Naturally, we’ll also take down the information of a few additional teams and notify them of their place in the rainy day queue (in the event of another team’s cancellation).

Again, that’s THIS Friday (November 4th) at 2:00 p.m.

Gather your forces, count your numbers, and watch that page.

Good luck summoners,
Game On!

P.S. We’ll be adding five $10 RP cards to the current winnings.

Pick It Up, Pick It Up, Chip It Up

In case you didn’t already know, we were lucky enough to get those sweet cats from Ska Skank Redemption to agree to play at our anniversary. We’re not exactly sure how it happened, but we’re pretty frelling happy about it just the same.

But lose interest quickly not, for there is more and you really shouldn’t let your short attention span call the shots anyway! Hatrick Penry will be leading things off for the evening to get our juices apumpin’, and local chiptune awesomenaut Aethernaut will be following the Ska Skank set with his own sensational bleep-bloop arrangements.

All in all, it really will be one hell of a show and we’re crazy excited for it.

In the meantime, we (eagerly) invite you to visit the music page and get better acquainted with the lineup. Read their bios, visit their websites, listen to their music, and buy their merch!

Most of all, look forward to seeing these friendly, video-game lovin’ souls at GO!CON.

Love always,
Game Omnomnom

It Has Begun~

We’ve still got some details to suss out on the PC tournaments, as well as determine whether or not we’ll be adding any more tournaments to the lineup at all.

But~

We can tell you that the console fighters are pretty much all figgered out and the site has been updated to reflect that. So, mosey on over to the tournament page to take a look at all of the details.

Also, if we could all give a hearty thanks to the Extra Fresh League for all of their help and cooperation in.. well, basically making these tourneys as great as they’re gonna’ be. It’s okay, you can just clap right there in your chair. They’ll hear it.

Love always,
Game On!

It’s Our Birthday! (Almost)

Ladies and gentlest of men, it is indeed that time again.

On Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th of November, Game On! will be hosting its third year anniversary event – to be affectionately known as “Game On Con!

See also: GO!CON, Game On!Om!Nom!, etc.

Rather than try and fold pages into our usual template as we have in the past, we thought it best this time around to dedicate a blog all its own to the event proper. There will be regular updates, tournament registers, and all the information you can eat. All you have to do is keep an eye on this blog (with handy RSS feed to those who like to subscribe).

Naturally, we’ll also be keeping you apprised over the Twitbook and Facespace as well.

So, take a few minutes to take a look at the skeleton of things confirmed thus far and be sure to save the date. Already we have live music, a list of contributors that’s steadily growing, many tournaments, dedicated movie rooms, dedicated table-top and CCG rooms, an artists’ row, the return of the raffle, contests, trivia, and an auxiliary space to make all of the extra stuff possible.

Plus there’s more being added with each passing week.

Stay tuned you sexy beasts. GO!CON is on the way, and it’s going to be a hell of a thing!
