Long-time friends and family of Game On! might recall having taken an evening in April of ’09 to go see singer, songwriter, and all-around phenomenal performer Jason Webley at The Mercury Cafe.

Well folks, he’s coming back to town, and we’d like to do the EXACT SAME THING.
Now there was a bit of discussion as to whether or not we were willing to close the store for a few hours, especially since the show will this time fall on a Saturday instead of a Tuesday. Our business is far more significant and regular now than it was back in those early months, and we’re more hesitant to close up during “peak” hours, so a determination had to be made.
We choose to go.
For some, this might mean several hours of inconvenience in the form of not being able to play some of dem vidja-games. For us, it means NOT having to split up our staff and community so that only SOME can go see this wonderful man perform, while others cannot. We’d much rather be together.
Above all, we like to consider ourselves purveyors of community, and gaming is but our medium of choice. More than the games themselves, it’s having all of you sitting and playing and shouting in the same room that really gets us off (eww). It’s seeing people befriend one another and develop bonds, whether in game or socially as well.
This is no different.
You see, we WANT you to come with us! We want you to join us for these precious few hours, and enjoy sing-a-longs, and wild dancing, and great music, and killer storytelling (and perhaps even some alcohol, yes)! We want to bring with us a group of twenty- NAY thirty, or even FORTY individuals to the show, to demonstrate our love and camaraderie both for one another and for Mr. Jason Webley.
In return, we believe you’ll find great value in the excursion. We believe you’ll have yourselves one hell of a time, one hell of a hangout, and one hell of a night to remember. And if that’s not enough for you, then we’ve also got one hell of a little incentive going..
Upon return to the store, anybody that came with us to the show gets any one drink, any one candy, and unlimited play for the remainder of the evening at a cost of only $10. Now that may not sound like much, but prepare yourself for the thunder:
We will not be ending the night at 4:00 a.m.
Say what?!
That’s right, for this super special occasion, we will be offering a special lock-in special because of how special all you handsome little specials are. That “unlimited” time will last for as long as you can keep your eyes open, even if it goes well into Sunday morning.
Speaking of Sunday, once we do eventually close from our Saturday show night sleepover, we’ll remain closed until Monday.
Sorry Sunday-goers! We recommend you come with us on Saturday!
So, to recap:

Now, I haven’t yet really given you any reason to love Jason Webley. For that, I’m going to have to ask you to visit our Facebook group, whereupon we’ll be regularly posting videos of the good sir over the next few days, just to whet your appetite.
Also, there’s a Facebook event page for the show.
Thank you for reading this needlessly long post, and we hope to see you there!
Love always,
Game On!

As a thank you to everybody who helped us out with the Borderlands promotional contest, we’ll be having the oft-mentioned, previously-unscheduled pizza party on next Thursday evening (January 14th). As promised, the pizza will be free and we’re even going to have a LAN special for the night, whereupon you get a free third hour with a two hour purchase.
Considering the recent mood of the LAN, the likely swing of the room will see League of Legends play, though perhaps some Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead 2 as well. Just the same, you watched our video, so come hang out with us next Thursday and enjoy some pizza.
I’m also strongly considering having a short Spaced marathon, in honour of because I feel like it. But, we’ll just see what folks wanna’ do.
Recommended show up time is sometime shortly after six to cast a topping vote, as I’m shooting for the pizza to have been ordered and arrived by seven.
Later!
We fought the good fight, gentle people of Game On! We fought it hard, like so much hard-bodied people what are hard.
Hard.
A few days ago, I received an E-mail from our iGames representative informing us that we received second place in the Borderlands promotional video contest. Naturally, I assume that there was some kind of breakdown in the judging process, as our video was quite obviously terrible enough for TWENTY first places, but I’m (not at all) a sportsmanlike kinda’ guy, so I’ma ask that you just let this injustice slide, and don’t take to the streets with the name of Muad’Dib on your lips.
Now I know that I said there’d be some amount of award if we took FIRST place, and that we ultimately ended up to the rear of the fellows that did (whose video really is quite good, by the way), but it seems entirely inappropriate to abandon that promise on something as trivial as a.. pfft.. detail. I mean, come on.
Fact: We asked you to watch our video, and you obliged.
Fact: We had the most number of views on YouTube.
Fact: There absolutely WILL be a pizza party, and we’ll also figure out some kind of awesome special on LAN hours for the evening.
Thank you so much for your support guys,
Damon
P.S. This will be cross-posted in the forum to figure out a good evening to do the free pizza/LAN special. Come to the forum if you want to weigh in.
Alright, so here’s the skinny, iGames, the kind people who make it possible for us to license games and get in new stuff and showcases from time to time (such as the Borderlands promotion we’ve all been jammin’ on lately), gave us a wonderful opportunity to be silly and creative and maybe make a few extra dollars.
(In confidence, a few extra dollars is always welcome around these here parts.)
Basically, the idea of it was to create a video centered around Borderlands and the promotion in the LAN, upload said video to YouTube, and then see who gets the most views.
In other words, we need your help.
We need you to go to YouTube. We need you to watch our video.
Many, many times.
Now here’s what’s in it for you:
1.) A pretty gosh-darned funny and entertaining video filled with colourful characters, attractive women, Borderlands, shocking twists, and palace intrigue.
2.) If we manage to net first prize in this thing, I will personally set an evening (with customer input, of course) on which to buy pizza for everybody in the store! Now this is a good deal, because I’m incredibly poor, so that means that the value and sentiment of me spending money on you is like getting up to make you several sandwiches after exhaustive, passionate lovemaking, and then also buying you pizza.
-UPDATE!-
3.) Game On! will happily donate one free hour of LAN time to everybody that shows up for the pizza party, and I will personally match an additional free hour out of my own pocket.
So, that’s a night of free pizza and two hours of free gaming if we take first in this thing. Right now, we’ve got a strong second in views, and are only barely lingering behind first.

We need to get a few more pictures and a little more footage for a Borderlands promotion we’re putting together, and it’d be extra nice if we could get the entire LAN full of people playing. So, anybody who comes out for this Wednesday evening’s Team Fortress 2 night will be given a free hour, under the condition that they spend fifteen or so minutes of that time playing Borderlands, and are comfortable being on camera.
Team Fortress 2 night starts loosely around six o’clock.
Borderlands filming will start, tentatively, around 7:15-7:30.
