We’ve got another tournament to announce, so I’ma just cut to the quick:

League of Legends.

League banner

There that is.

The majority of you have been playing League with us since shortly after its release. It’s a longstanding and regular presence in our LAN for both casual and competitive players alike, so we really thought it about gul-durned time to start putting together some more serious events.

Yeah, we’re stepping things up.

Now, for the moment, we can’t exactly afford to offer a one million dollar payout. We’d like to – man would we like to – but we can’t.

Sorry.

We would, however, like to make things of this nature far more regular, so that we can bolster turnout and offer greater prizes and incentive to attend, not to mention earn some consistency and legitimacy in the eyes of our attendees, Riot, and others (e.g. Razer, Steel Series, et al.) for future sponsorship and officiality. (I swear that I’ll personally be working hard towards that.)

So, on this particular occasion, we’re going to be doing matches of 3v3 on Twisted Treeline.

The stakes – are as follows:

Date: Saturday, August 20th
Time: 2:00 PM
Registration: Sign-up begins at 1:00 PM and will close at 1:30 PM
Single elimination (unless turnout and PC availability allow for double)

Entry: $5 per team member

1st Prize: $300 + 24 LAN hours to winning team ($100 + 8 LAN hours per member)

Rules: Click here

-UPDATE!-
Symphonic Anime Orchestra has offered to contribute $225 to the winning team, bringing our first prize cash total to $100 per winning team member!

It’s been determined that this will be an offline (i.e. LAN) tournament, but will allow for ONE exception. This exception is somebody who committed to his team when the tournament was more casual (prior to Symphonic Anime Orchestra’s prize contribution), someone considered local and regular to the store, but who will be unable to attend in person.

Considering the nature of LAN-based play and that all teams will be precluded from tactical chatter aloud, we are also applying a conditional handicap to this player’s team to avoid the potential for advantageous communication not necessarily available to other, local teams. This will be discussed with relevant opposing teams on the day of the tournament.

Well, that’s that! The rules are now posted (see link above) and everything seems to be spelled out and covered! We look forward to seeing some competitive League play! (R.S.V.P. on Facebook!)
